Travel & Local Information

The RACIRI Summer School 2019 will take place in a hotel in Svetlogorsk, Kaliningrad area, Russia. Svetlogorsk is also formerly known by its German name "Rauschen" and is a coastal resort town beautifully located on the coast of the Baltic Sea on the Sambia Peninsula. It is 39 kilometers northwest of Kaliningrad, the administrative center of the oblast. Svetlogorsk is close to the Curonian Spit (German: "Kurische Nehrung") - a 98 km long, thin, curved sand-dune spit that separates the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea coast. Its southern portion lies within Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia and its northern within southwestern Lithuania. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site shared by the two countries.

Travel information:

Svetlogorsk is a resort city in the Kaliningrad region located at the coast of the Baltic sea 40 km out of Kaliningrad. The Organizing Committee will arrange the local transfers of the participants and lecturers from the railway stations and the airport of Kaliningrad to the Volna Hotel at the scheduled time.

We kindly ask to inform us about your travel plans to give us possibility for organizing local transfers.

By Air:

Khrabrovo airport (KGD)

You can get to Kaliningrad through international Khrabrovo airport (KGD). It is located 20 km to the northeast of the center of the city. There are many flights to Kaliningrad from Moscow and other Russian cities, as well as a convenient flight from Warsaw.

Organizing Committee will arrange the local transfers of the participants and lecturers from the Khrabrovo airport to the Volna Hotel. Just inform us about your flight.

Gdansk airport (GDN)

You can get to Kaliningrad from Gdansk airport by bus (travel time ~4h).

You can take the bus 210 from the Gdansk Airport to the Gdansk Main Bus Station. It departures every 30 minutes, or you can use the taxi. (Bus number 210. Start at 5:51. Every 30 minutes. The end of the movement: 22.15.)

By train:

You can get to Kaliningrad from Russian cities as well as from Vilnius by train.  You may get detailed information about train timetable and buy a ticket on the web-site of Russian Railways (http://pass.rzd.ru/main-pass/public/en).

Organizing Committee will arrange the local transfers of the participants and lecturers from the train Station “Yuzhnyy”(236015, Kaliningrad, ul. Railway, 13-23) to the Volna Hotel. Just inform us about your train.

By bus:

You can get to Kaliningrad from many German, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland cities by bus. The actual bus schedule is available at http://avtovokzal39.ru/international.html.

By taxi:

Please note that Organizing Committee will arrange the local transfers of the participants and lecturers.
